“Miracle Cure” is a suspenseful and gripping novel by Harlan Coben. The story is about the HIV/AIDS crisis and finding a cure. It’s old and presents a wrong view of AIDS patients. Some people in the story mistakenly think that only gay or drug-using individuals get the disease. They don’t consider heterosexual people who are also affected by it. This is a big issue since it’s known that AIDS affects various people, not just one group.

Miracle Cure is a story about a couple. Michael Silverman, a famous NY Knicks basketball player, and his wife Sara Lowell. She is a well-known TV news reporter, who becomes entangled in a conspiracy. Their family and friends get caught up in a web of murders, lies, and suicides. These are all connected to a secret AIDS clinic. In 1991, Michael got sick, and the doctors diagnosed him with AIDS. Back then, people often thought of it as a disease affecting only the gay community. Michael begins treatment at a hidden clinic. Strangely, patients who seem to be cured there end up being killed by a serial murderer.
The clinic’s owner is in trouble because they’re running out of research money. The government officials are refusing to fund their grants. This endangers the clinic and the important work they’re doing.
As the investigator looks into the murders, he begins to notice that things don’t make sense. He’s determined to unravel the mysteries behind these strange events. To uncover the truth, he travels across the globe in pursuit of the serial killer.

There are some violent parts in the story, but the overall tale is interesting. The book kept me engaged, and I especially liked the unexpected ending. I enjoy learning while having fun. The book talked about the early opinions on AIDS, which were troubling, but Harlan Coben depicted it well. Thankfully, things have improved over time.
This is one of Coben’s older books. In my edition, the author admits that it feels outdated. It’s set during a time when there was more mocking of gay men in the early days of the AIDS crisis. Even though it might seem old-fashioned, it’s still a good story.
The plot was full of suspense, but the language used in the book was really bad. The tale is not believable and is not very logical. This book was a mistake to publish. It’s badly written, and poorly edited, and seems like it was rushed to make money by capitalizing on the author’s fame. It probably won’t do any favors for the author’s reputation.
